PRISM City Farm has 3 acres of land and is a community, environmental and educational project which offers young people aged 12-21 the opportunity to manage the day-to-day running of an inner city farm.
Young people are engaged in looking after the animals and their welfare, whilst ensuring the land is maintained and developed. The farm has a breeding programme of rare breed cattle, goats, sheep and various other small farmyard animals. It also has a horticultural programme, nature trail and wildlife pond.
The alternative education programme offers accredited and non-accredited group work with a vocational, social, functional and key skill focus utilising a working farm as the tool to engagement. Vocational courses include BTEC Construction, Animal Care and Land Based Studies. Young people also have access to 1-1 support with functional skills – Maths and English.
