PRISM is certain that Participation is about young people understanding issues that affect them and coming up with possible solutions. It is supporting them to shape the different stages at which decision-making takes place including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Consultation with young people is ongoing at PRISM. All young people take part in an initial assessment which results in their individual learning and action plan being formed. This enables us to support each young person holistically, both academically and socially. Consequently over 90% of learners are able to complete accredited work during their time at PRISM.
YOUNG MINDS carried out “The Covid 19 January 2021 Survey” consulting 2438 young people aged between 13 – 25.
The report shows that the pandemic has had a devastating impact on many of the young people they heard from – some saying that that they are deeply anxious, have started self-harming again, are having panic attacks, or are losing motivation and hope for the future. We all know that some young people will be dealing with multiple pressures, especially those who have been bereaved or experienced other trauma during this time.
When asked what the main pressures were during the current lockdown, respondents mostly spoke of loneliness and isolation, concerns about school, and a breakdown in routine. Many young people also expressed fears about the future.
